Three decades of British wealth management.
Founded in 1991, Brooks Macdonald has grown into one of the UK's most respected independent wealth managers — trusted with over £17 billion of client assets on behalf of individuals, families, charities and professional intermediaries.
Built on a simple idea.
We began with the belief that wealth management should be genuinely personal. Our founders wanted to build a firm where investment managers took the time to know their clients and tailor decisions to their lives, not the other way around. That principle still shapes every conversation we have today.
Since 1991 we have grown from a small London partnership into a nationwide business with offices across the United Kingdom and the Channel Islands. Along the way we have become a listed company, welcomed thousands of clients into our care and built long-standing relationships with financial advisers, solicitors and accountants who trust us with the people they serve.
What has not changed is our independence of thought. We are free to choose the investments we believe are right for each client, without pressure to sell in-house products or chase short-term fashions. That freedom, combined with disciplined research, is at the heart of the outcomes we deliver.
Considered. Personal. Rigorous.
We take a long-term view, favouring evidence over noise and patience over prediction. Investing well is a decades-long discipline.
Every client has a named investment manager who knows their circumstances, family and ambitions — and answers the phone when they call.
Our investment process is disciplined, tested and transparent. We show our workings and explain the trade-offs behind every decision.
We are not tied to any bank, product provider or platform. Our recommendations are made for you, not for us.
Environmental, social and governance factors are woven through our research — not bolted on as a marketing exercise.
Many of our client relationships span generations. We build them to last, and we plan for who comes next.
A joined-up view of your wealth.
Money exists to serve a purpose. Whether that purpose is a comfortable retirement, the education of grandchildren, the sale of a family business or the funding of a charitable cause, we start every relationship by understanding what matters to you and why.
From there, we bring together investment management and financial planning under one roof. Your investment manager designs and looks after your portfolio; your financial planner keeps the wider strategy — pensions, tax, protection, estate — aligned with your goals. The two work as a single team, so nothing falls between the cracks.
We review your plan regularly, because life rarely stands still. Careers change, families grow, tax rules shift and markets move. Our job is to keep the plan realistic, resilient and rooted in the outcomes you care about.
Disciplined, diversified, decisive.
Our Centralised Investment Process draws on the expertise of specialist teams in asset allocation, manager research, direct equity and fixed income. We combine top-down macroeconomic thinking with bottom-up security selection, and we hold ourselves to institutional standards of governance and risk oversight.
We are style-neutral: we do not believe any single approach — growth, value, thematic or passive — has a monopoly on good outcomes. Portfolios are constructed to match a defined risk profile and are rebalanced with intent, not on impulse.
Above all, we are conscious of cost. Every basis point saved in fees is a basis point returned to the client, and we scrutinise the value of every fund, bond and structure we hold on your behalf.
The team behind your plan.
Our investment managers, financial planners, analysts and support colleagues are united by an obligation to act in our clients' best interests. Many hold chartered or fellowship-level qualifications, and continuous professional development is a condition of the job, not an afterthought.
We invest in graduates and apprentices alongside experienced hires, because the next generation of client relationships deserves the same quality of care as today's. Culturally, we prize curiosity, humility and directness — the qualities that make good advisers over the long run.
Wealth with a wider purpose.
We believe capital carries responsibility. Our investment teams integrate environmental, social and governance analysis into their research, and we offer specialist responsible and sustainable mandates for clients who want their portfolio to reflect their values in a measurable way.
As a firm we support the communities in which we work through partnerships with UK charities, employee volunteering and a growing programme of financial education. We are proud to look after the endowments of many charitable foundations and take our stewardship role on their boards seriously.
Held to the highest standards.
Brooks Macdonald is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Our governance framework is designed to protect clients at every level of the firm — from board oversight and independent risk and compliance functions to segregated client money arrangements with regulated custodians.
